Losing his engineer clearly did not had any impact on his last effort as Sam Schmidt Motorsports Alex Tagliani earned his second consecutive pole yesterday, this time for the IndyCar Texas doubleheader.
Just weeks after his shock Indianapolis 500 pole, the Canadian was once again the man to beat averaging a speed of 215.816mph.
Ganassi’s Dario Franchitti was second with 214.801mph while Penske's Will Power was just following behind with an average of 214.716.
Former Formula 1 driver Takuma Sato did an excellent job for KV Racing Technology by taking fourth with Sarah Fisher’s entry of Ed Carpenter completing the top5 of the qualifying session.
Canadians James Hinchcliffe (Newman Haas Racing) and veteran Paul Tracy (Dragon Racing) will start respectively 15th and 21st on the starting grid.
The grid for the second of Saturday night's races will be determined by a random draw after race one.
