American race car driver and team owner Ed Carpenter announced his new Dallara DW12 Indy car will be powered by Chevy this year.

Ed Carpenter Racing confirmed on Monday that the first-year IZOD IndyCar Series team's No. 20 entry will be powered by Chevrolet's 2.2-liter, twin-turbocharged V-6 engine.

The new team will make its series debut March 27 at St. Petersburg, Florida. The team will be sponsored primarily by Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka.

Carpenter, co-owner of the team with IndyCar series' founder Tony George, will drive the new Dallara chassis throughout the 16-race season.

Ed Carpenter, 30, won his first series victory at Kentucky Speedway in October, driving for Sarah Fisher Racing.

Team Penske, Andretti Autosport, KV Racing Technology and Panther Racing also are Chevy-powered teams for the 2012 season.
