After suffering a terrible accident at last year’s Indianapolis 500, Mike Conway was back in a Dallara-Honda Indy car for the first time as he tested with his new team Andretti Autosports this week.

The 27-year-old Briton, who was driving in 2010 for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, had been out of action for most of the 2010 season after suffering back and leg injuries in a violent crash that happened at the end of the Indy 500 in May of last year.

Conway went out first on the Homestead road course on Monday and at Sebring on Wednesday where he was fastest of the 12 cars present, according to reports.

During the winter he moved from Dreyer & Reinbold - where he had raced since coming to IndyCar in 2009 - to Michael Andretti's team.

Last week, Dreyer & Reinbold announced that young Brazilian Ana Beatriz would take over Conway’s place alongside Justin Wilson.
