The IZODĀ IndyCar Series has decided not to replace the cancelled Chinese round and, therefore, that the 2012 schedule will remain at 15 events.
When the cancellation of the Qingdao round was announced a couple weeks ago, speculations about a number of alternatives venues became increasingly present in the paddock with both oval and road courses considered.
But, IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard confirmed that there would be no further adjustments to the scheduld this year.
"After carefully considering all possible options for an additional race, we felt it was in our best interest to keep our schedule at its current 15-event lineup," said Bernard.
It was also revealed that the season finale at Fontana on September 15 would be extended from 400 to 500 miles.
