As it was the case with previous Indy Lights champions, Alex Lloyd had a hard time getting a full-time tide in the IndyCar Series but thanks to Dale Coyne Racing, he was able to earn this season’s “Rookie of the Year” title.

For the Briton, it hasn’t been easy in last couple of seasons having initially signed with Ganassi, which was unfortunately unable to put a complete IndyCar programme for his new protégé.

Lloyd decided to leave the team and took a gamble by taking part in the 2009 season finale with Newman/Haas. Of course, that was supposed to materialize in a full-time drive in 2010 but because of a last minute withdrawal from a sponsor it was back to square one.

Lucky for him, he was able to close a deal with Dale Coyne Racing at the end of the off-season to replace the departing Justin Wilson.

Despite this, Lloyd experienced some problems early on in the season. He managed to take fourth at the Indy 500, which was followed later by a sixth on the grid and eighth in the race at Texas, and 10th at Sonoma.

The 25-year-old believes that he could finish in the top 10 in the championship next season if he stays with Coyne's team but money will dictate where he will end up next year.
