Team Penske Ryan Briscoe finished the second day of testing at Homestead-Miami Speedway on top while many teams had serious issues with a problem on the track that causes numerous cut tyres.

Several drivers, who lost a set of tyres to an unidentified abrasive agent on the surface of the 1.5-mile oval, had to cut short their session because they ran low on allotted tyres.

According to one team manager the problem may have stemmed from mesh wiring below the asphalt surface.

22 car and driver combinations completed nearly 4,700 laps during the two days.

A further open test is scheduled at the Barber Motorsports Park road course in Birmingham, Alabama, on 22-23 March, before the season debutes at St Petersburg on 5 April.
