Proof that crossovers are all the rage these days, BMW has confirmed the coming of the X4 in the near future.
President and CEO Norbert Reithofer told Auto Motor und Sport magazine that the model, known internally as the F26, will finally make it into production. So there was truth to those rumours after all!
Built on the X3’s platform, the X4 will feature four- and six-cylinder engines and share some family traits. As its name indicates, the X4 will plunk itself down in between the X3 and X5 in the Bimmer hierarchy.
The fifth crossover to come out of Munich will likely be assembled in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Though nothing is official yet, deliveries should start sometime in 2014.
