“Automobiles don't run on lichen, my dear. They burn fuel instead. That means humans have to stop at a gas station once in a while to fill up their tanks.”
“So, then they can fly?”
“No, sweetheart, these cars don't fly. At least no yet.”
The young elf is kind of shocked and a little bit sad that the poor humans don't have a “real” means of transportation to go about their daily activities. While they marvel at a car that can go from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, even the slowest of all the super-sleds in Santa's garage merely take two milliseconds to achieve that feat.
