S-Type Sport and S-Type R models now have an available aluminum fascia finish, a style that was made famous in such Jaguar sports cars as the 1961 E-Type and XKE, but this is the first time that S-Type customers have been able to choose an interior without wood trim.
Beyond the exterior and interior changes, there's very little that's different about the S-Type. The range of engines and transmissions is unchanged over the 2004 range, for example.
The one possible change to S-Type that should interest potential buyers is a promise from CEO Greenwell that the new model ''holds further attractions for the rational buyer who demands strong value from a luxury car. From entry level to the top of the range, the Jaguar S-Type will offer competitive pricing, in spite of richer standard feature specifications and extensive use of advanced technologies.''
Beyond that, Greenwell says, there'll be more differentiation between the various models and wider choice of special equipment packs.
If people agree with Callum on the style changes and Greenwell can manage to add value to the whole package, it's entirely possible that consumers might start to think better of the S-Type this summer.
