Le Mans: Audi dominates 24 Hours official test session (+photos)

Team Audi set the three best lap times of the official test day before the 24 Hours of Le Mans ahead of both hybrid Toyota prototypes.

The Audi R18 e-tron Quattro driven by Capello, Kristensen and McNish was quickest ahead of the sister car driven by Fassler, Lotterer and Tréluyer. The R18 ultra diesel took third place, with Dumas, Duval and Gené.

Behind the Audis, Toyota took 4th and 5th places with the TS030 Hybrids. The No. 7 car driven by Wurz, Lapierre and Nakajima lead the second Japanese car with Davidson, Buemi and Sarrazin.

The second Audi R18 ultra car was sixth fastest.

The Strakka Racing’s HPD ARX-Honda was fastest of the LMP1 petrol powered cars ahead of both Rebellion Racing prototypes. The LMP2 category was dominated by OAK Racing’s Morgan-Nissan.

Sébastien Loeb Racing’s Oreca 03, which won’t take part to this year’s race, was on track, with the eight-time World Rally Champion driving alongside young Frenchmen Marroc and Vernay.

Luxury Racing’s Ferrari F458 driven by Frédéric Makowiecki was the best of the GTE Pro cars, ahead of one of the factory Corvette C6-ZR1 and one of the two AF Corse’s F458. In GTE Am, the Aston Martin Vantage V8 was quickest.

The amazing Deltawing Nissan, developped by team Highcroft Racing and driven by Franchitti, Krumm and Motoyama, was 32th overall, and led several LMP2 prototypes.

The session was stopped several times for various incidents. The most serious accident happened in the morning, when Guillaume Moreau hit the wall at Ford corner aboard his OAK Pescarolo-Judd.
