The personnel of Peugeot Sport, based in Vélizy-Villacoublay in the southwest suburbs of Paris, France are working flat out on the new endurance car destined to replace the turbo diesel 908 next year.

This new car will contest endurance races of various series as well as the famous Le Mans 24 Hours.

The new car, name coded 90X is almost finished. But very few details are known. Will it be another turbo diesel car, or a gasoline-engine car, or a hybrid? Will it be a closed car (like the 908) or an open top, like the Audi R15?

Our spies told us that the assembling of the 90X started immediately upon the return of the team from Le Mans. There were small delays caused by faulty components that needed to be redone by their suppliers.

What technical director Bruno Famin has said about the new car tends to suggest that it will be powered by a hybrid motorization. The boss of Peugeot Sport, Olivier Quesnel has always been a fan of the hybrid technology.

In fact, a hybrid-version of the 908 was hastily built last year and took to the track at Silverstone in the hands of Nicolas Minassian.

Peugeot has also released driver Christian Klien who is apparently focused too much on making his return in Formula 1 to the liking of his French employer.
