Mazda calls it "Nagare". It's a design language, or a sort of code, which dictates the underlying visual execution of their latest concept vehicles.

The idea is simple enough- it's a stylistic principle which captures the energy of natural elements in transition. Motion without movement plays a big role here, and the new Hakaze concept is no exception. Like its siblings the Nagare and Ryuga, the Hakaze looks like it's moving while sitting still. The biggest cue in this regard is the rippled pattern on the doors, resembling the sand in the bottom of a shallow stream.

"Through the success of the current generation of cars, Zoom-Zoom has managed to focus our company and delight our customers at the same time. Nagare builds on this newly regained confidence and gives it a unique and distinctive identity", says Laurens van den Acker, who developed the design language.

The Hakaze is a four-seat coupe combined with a crossover SUV. It was designed in Europe, so it's big on both style and function. Not only striking (albeit over-the-top) to look at, it also boasts a removable roof and unique cargo area formed by sliding part of the rear seats under the front seats.

Intended for those in their thirties and forties who lead active and adventurous lifestyles, the Hakaze will be debuted at the Geneva International Motor Show next month.
