Commemorating the unexpected victory of a 300 SL in the production sports cars class at the 1955 Mille Miglia, one of the world's most challenging long-distance races, Mercedes-Benz is launching the SL "Mille Miglia 417" Special Edition, available in SL 400 and SL 500 trim levels. Orders will begin on April 7th.
In terms of performance, the 6-cylinder engine in the SL 400 produces 333 horsepower, while the 8-cylinder in the SL 500 is rated at 455 horsepower. ESP Curve Dynamic Assist comes standard, and Active Body Control is optionally available.
Outside, the SL "Mille Miglia 417" Special Edition sports a magnetite black metallic paint finish, although customers can replace it with night black or diamond white bright finish. The 19” front and 20” rear black AMG Performance wheels partially hide red-painted brake callipers.
The interior features AMG Line leather seats as well as a black centre console with contrasting inlays and red edging. Similar accents also outline the door panels, seat belts, and floor mats. The easy-to-grip steering wheel is wrapped in red and black Nappa leather, while the headrests sport an embroidered "SL Mille Miglia" badge.
