This is a limited edition, with only 250 units earmarked for Canada.

First introduced in Japan in 1966, the Toyota Corolla has gone on to become the best-selling nameplate in automotive history, nothing less. Across 12 generations, the nameplate has sold for over 57 million units globally.

That’s worth celebrating whenever an occasion pops up – and as it happens, there is such an occasion right now, given the 60 years that have passed since that 1966 launch.

To mark anniversary of its iconic compact car, Toyota is bringing forth the 2027 Corolla 60th Anniversary Special Edition.

2027 Corolla 60th Anniversary Special Edition – What’s special about it?

For one thing, the commemorative model will be produced in very limited quantities; only 250 units are allocated for the Canadian market. It’s slated to arrive at dealerships in early 2027, following the autumn rollout of the standard 2027 Corolla lineup.

Rather than a radical mechanical overhaul, Toyota focused on subtle aesthetic and equipment upgrades. Based on the Hybrid SE sedan trim, the anniversary model replaces standard SE badging with distinct 60th Anniversary graphics at the bottom of the rear doors and on the trunk lid. The commemorative emblem also appears on the metallic front door sills and is embroidered into the floor mats.

The exterior features machine-finished 18-inch alloy wheels with dark accents, a clear nod to the design previously featured on XSE models from 2020 to 2022. Buyers can choose between two paint finishes: Classic White or Supersonic Red, the latter exclusive to this special edition.

Inside, the cabin features black fabric sport seats with red contrast stitching, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. Toyota has also upgraded the interior tech by incorporating the top-tier XSE’s larger 10.5-inch infotainment screen alongside a JBL premium audio system.

Powertrain of the 2027 Corolla 60th Anniversary Special Edition

Mechanically, the 60th Anniversary Edition is identical to the standard Corolla Hybrid SE. Power comes from a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors, an electronic continuously variable transmission (eCVT) and standard electronic all-wheel drive. The setup produces 138 hp while delivering a combined fuel consumption rating of 4.5L/100 km.

Pricing for the 2027 Toyota Corolla 60th Anniversary Special Edition will be announced closer to its early 2027 launch, though logically it should be priced slightly above the standard Hybrid SE trim, which starts near $35,000 including freight and delivery fees.
