You probably are well aware that what was once mini is now tiny tiny. Today's mini is gargantuan when directly compared to yesterday's small car.
As we surfed the web, we came across a few eye-opening pictures, pitting dimensions from the original Mini to the Cygnet and the cool 1968 Monte Carlo Mini to the future MINI rally phenom.
First observation is how short the smart fortwo is. The cuddly-bear cute Morris Mini is 355 mm longer than the fortwo, that's over a foot! It may be the shortest but it's also the tallest... This would explain why many people still believe that the fortwo will tip over the moment the steering-wheel begins to turn to one side.
The second set of specs that jumps out is the weight difference between the old Mini and the new MINI. We bet that if you kit out a 2011 MINI with the autobox, sunroof and a few other accessories, it will actually tip the scale at twice the girth of Sir Alec Issigonis' creation.
And width-wise, it's no wonder why the gang from the original Italian Job picked the Mini for the job, at 1,400 mm wide, it fits in most businesses’ double-doorways.
