Aerodynamics are very important. We must factor it in when we design a car. Functionality can't be overlooked, either -- but it should never prevail over beauty, as is too often the case with many competitors. These functional needs led me to develop a car with a raised-up rear end, like a jaguar about to pounce on its prey. Just like the Mark II, I decided to sketch a line that gracefully flows from the hood all the way to the rear without any interruption. It looks to be wrapping the entire car.
The purpose of any car is to appeal to its driver. I wrote this old Chinese maxim on my wall: "You have to be very good to be simple." That's what I'm trying to achieve when designing cars: simplicity and purity.
