Once on the main show floor, you will be faced with acres of shiny steel, rubber and plastic. Depending on the direction you select, you’ll find a Nissan Cube Krom edition. It is noteworthy to add that this is my first encounter with Nissan/Infiniti in this auto show season as they were not present in Los Angeles or Detroit. If you like concepts, get a load of the gorgeous Essence; we should be so lucky that all future cars look this good.

If you look carefully way at the back of the Toyota booth, you will find three unusual Toyotas, Scions to be exact. Yes, that’s right! Scion is finally coming to town (well, Canada) and will be offered through 18 existing Toyota dealers as of this September. Check them out!

I’ve said it before and I’ll probably say it again but Ford is on FIRE! With tons of new models on the way, the Fiesta is the one that (perhaps most interesting along with the new Focus) takes center-stage in Montreal.

Mitsubishi is seldomly talked about when “green” is concerned. This is about to change as they have just signed on for a pilot-project with Hydro-Quebec and the city of Boucherville to put up to 50 i-MiEVs to the test in Quebec’s harsh driving conditions as early as next fall. This is the first time that a project such as this involves a car manufacturer.

Other Asian car makers have put together lively displays to show off some of their latest creations. Kia has the all-new US-built 2011 Sorento, Suzuki, the 2011 Kizashi and Hyundai, the revised 2010 Santa Fe and the fully revamped 2010 Tucson.

The Germans, not to be outdone, are also out in force. It seems as though BMW has more cars on the floor than they have square-footage! Of note, the 5-Series Gran Turismo may be the one to study for a few minutes; check out its trick hatch. In a surprise move, Volkswagen took the wraps off a Golf R, essentially the ultimate GTI. With 270 hp, AWD and a whole lot of attitude, be sure to stop by the booth to tell them you like it so that they bring it to North America. Mercedes seals the deal at the very end with their glamorous and fast SLS AMG.... Those doors...

Obviously, I could not pass up the opportunity to tell you about our Auto123.com interactive zone. “What’s that?” you say? It’s a knock your socks off affair where you and your mates can compete to see who really is the best driver in safe and fun conditions. Get in line to try out our Hexatech simulator (a.k.a. the Mental Monster Machine of Mayhem of a simulator) and our four F1 cockpits. The best times win great prizes and it’s all in good fun... so long as you win the race...
