To everyone’s surprise, Valentino Rossi tested a Ducati 1198 Superbike at the Misano circuit in Italy to complete his first test to check the status of his injury.

The Italian and new MotoGP Ducati rider was back in the saddle less than seventy-three days after the operation he had on his right shoulder, but according to sources close to the team the outcome was quite painful for the Italian.

"The track more or less confirmed what we expected: the shoulder is painful — especially under braking, when the front area hurts, where they stitched the tendon," said Rossi.

People close to Rossi expected the multiple-champion to be in better shape and they now believe that the upcoming test in Malaysia will be quite difficult.

His manager told Gazzetta dello Sport. "Valentino will arrive in Malaysia with only 50% of his strength. Each time he begins to turn right, the pain makes his arm fail".

The first MotoGP official test will be held in Malaysia starting on February 1st on the Sepang circuit.
