Like I said, predictions for 2006 will be tough at best, but we can wish. And my wish for 2006 is for Williams/Cosworth to dominate, and win the world championship. Not because I am a Williams fan, but just so Jenson
Button can buck the trend of paying drivers. You see, if my wish comes true, Button will be the first driver in history to have paid an estimated 38 million not to drive a winning car... and it will look quite good on him thank you. Finally, Button was voted by SpeedTV as the most overrated driver in F1 - finally some truth comes out in Formula 1. Button has nearly 100 GP starts, and no wins...
Formula 1 Translation; Christijan Albers ran over Michael Schumacher on the installation lap at China - a bizarre incident to say the least. Both drivers had to change to backup cars. You have 15 minutes to leave the garages and make your way to the grid, so why Albers was in such a hurry is anyone's guess.
Of the incident, Albers said in the Minardi release, "I think everyone saw what happened on the formation lap, and I think it was a shame for both of us."
Translation; "I can't put into words what an idiot I am." Note to future F1 drivers, never admit guilt... never say you are sorry.
Honda Sticks with IRL
Honda must know something the rest of us don't. They recently announced that they are sticking with the Indy Racing League through 2009. It is but a minor victory for the IRL, which has been rampant with bad news over the last week. ChampCar's Kevin Kalkohvenn is, or has, depending on who you talk to, basically bought the Molson Indy Toronto, which ensures that the IRL will not race there anytime soon. Add to that Target Chip Ganassi making overtures to head back to ChampCar, the IRL chassis manufacturer signing to build the next generation ChampCar, and a 2006 schedule that could hardly be called a 'National' series. There are no western races, less races than 2005, and the death-nail could be the rampant rumour that Red Bull is out. Many feel the Red Bull dough will head to ChampCar in the form of a title sponsor for the ChampCar Toyota Atlantic series - which in my opinion will be the best open wheel racing in North America, bar none in 2006.
