Ullrich. "TDI technology has not been pushed to its limits in motorsport yet. We are the first to confront the challenge. The demands of such a project are accordingly high. Long-term technology partners such as Bosch, Michelin or Shell support us in our quest. Together we have the chance to write new chapters in the history books of motorsport and diesel technology."

Testing is already underway, and it won't be long before we can see the new R10 in action. It will be at the 12 hours of Sebring on March 18, before heading to Le Mans. If Canadians are lucky, you could see one at the ALMS race at Mosport later in the summer, and if you do, expect to see this headline: "Diesel powered racer sets new track record at Mosport"

Alonso to McLaren

was a shocker for several reasons. Firstly, why give up a championship winning car and team to join the outfit that you beat, and why announce it so early? Sadly, this has become an all too common trend in motorsports of late. Remember last year, when Kurt Busch, Jamie McMurray and others in Nextel Cup announced plans for their 2007 season. Now, with Alonso on the move in F1, it puts the futures of others into some disarray. While this is a part of modern Formula 1, it is not 'sporting'. You see, to win in any series, whether Formula 1 or Formula Ford, you need a team that is behind you 100 percent. It is that teamwork that brings success. With a team knowing that their driver will be gone at the end of the season, why would they want to give him success, success that he takes elsewhere? It just isn't right.
