Prix Drivers Association, while others, most notably Renault's team boss Flavio Briatore feels it's time to move on.

"He made a mistake; he paid for it - enough," he told the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper. "Renault and Ferrari will continue to battle until the last grand prix, and rightly so."

Rest assured we haven't heard the last of the qualifying issue, and be sure to check this column next week as there is a strong rumour about the running of Formula 1 that should become a huge issue this week. I don't have all the facts yet, but it involves the new rights holders and a major energy drink owner.

Hornish takes Indy... Barely

Sam Hornish Jr. won the 91st running of the Indy 500 on Sunday afternoon under sweltering skies,

but to be honest, it wasn't really a surprise. Hornish was the fastest in practice, took the pole and clearly had the speed to win on Sunday. The only thing that could have slowed his progress nearly happened on his last pit stop. He pitted under green, but didn't go a lap down, and that was the difference.

You see, had he gone a lap down, the next yellow - with just a few laps to go - would have sealed his fate. Instead, he was just ahead of the leaders, and the yellow effectively helped him to make that lap up.

It got interesting on the final dash to the green with Michael Andretti leading, his son Marco second and Hornish fourth. But there is no substitute for pure speed and Hornish had it.
