Pacer is financed primarily through corporate donations with Honda Canada being the major contributor. Pacer doesn't shy away from the need-for-speed. It recognizes that racing will occur among our youthful drivers. Through a combination of education, opportunity and zero-tolerance, Pacer expects to put a dent in streetracing. The education component will target potential streetracers, however Pacer intends to go further by establishing safe, sanctioned venues for inexpensive drop-in racing. After these two hurdles are overcome, lookout, zero-tolerance of streetracing comes next.

Back to Wessex, as you may have guessed by now they aren't a team content with the "status quo." They have moved far beyond the "Rolling Roadblock" that got them started and now field two racecars and are members of the Sports Car Club of British Columbia (SCCBC). The team's showstopper car has just been completed. It was built from the "ground up" in a project that kept Lorenzo Costantino, the team's technical specialist, up seven nights a week for two months straight. Lorenzo, who acquired his skill from years of experimenting with what works and doesn't work in a racecar, fondly recounts numerous nights in which the midnight oil burned through to 5:30 in the morning, leaving him barely enough time to head directly to his I.T. job at Simon Fraser University.

Lorenzo's racing dream began at the age of ten. That's when his uncle, who was part of a racing team, began taking him to the track every Sunday. Lorenzo's enthusiasm for the technical side of motorsport bubbles over as he describes the Wessex masterpiece that deprived him of many moons in the sack. Although it began life as Honda's lightest production car ever, the body of a 1990 CRX Si, it's but the sheep's clothing concealing a wolf of a racecar.
