SAINT-EUSTACHE, QC,-- Nova Bus is pleased to announce that MTA New York City Transit has purchased 90 Nova LFS articulated vehicles, to be assembled in Nova Bus' newest plant located in Plattsburgh, NY, with delivery slated for the first half of 2010.

Serving the five boroughs of New York City, MTA New York City Transit owns and operates a fleet of over 4,500 buses - the largest bus fleet of any public agency in North America. NYC Transit's fleet operates on 249 local and express routes, serving approximately 2.3 million passengers on an average weekday.

Their order follows a successful six-week in-revenue service run of a Nova LFS Artic bus on the Bx12 route in the Bronx and the M15 route in Manhattan.

The Nova LFS Artic is designed for productivity and features a unique stainless steel structure; its successful completion of structural reliability testing represented a significant advantage for Nova Bus vehicles. Other characteristics include a particulate filter that reduces emissions and a time-tested front-door access ramp for mobility impaired passengers. Its exterior styling has been enhanced, and drivers will also enjoy the redesigned driver area. Riders will particularly appreciate the wide mid and rear doors, triggered by motion sensors once the bus has come to a full stop; the improved passenger flow translates into decreased time spent at stops, for enhanced travel efficiency.
