Low-profile Americans
What amazed me in New York was the lack of spotlight on American cars. Sure, the Ford Flex and GM's crossover trio garnered a lot of attention but, in general, the new production models coming from the U.S. barely made waves. Despite showcasing 11 new models, GM reserved the official launch treatment for its innovative microcars. Meanwhile, the Hummer, Cadillac STS and Buick Super lineup were left alone with the medias and visitors.

Jeep Liberty

In short, the 2007 New York International Auto Show was not about extravaganza, fireworks or beautiful, scantily-clad ladies (well, kind of). The emphasis was on cars and trucks. And the public, too.

Surprises:
- Infiniti EX
- Maserati Gran Turismo
- Audi S5
- Suzuki SX4 Sedan
- Chevrolet Groove
- Hyundai Genesis

Disappointments:
- Subaru Impreza Wagon, which looks like an old Mazda Protegé5
- Jeep Liberty, nothing more than a Nitro with a Jeep grille
- Nissan 350Z Nismo, exclusive to the U.S.
