NASCAR’s strict anti-drug abuse policy continues to catch violators.
This time Phillip Gibson, a crewman on the No. 5 Randy Moss, Team was suspended indefinitely from NASCAR for violating the sanctioning body’s substance abuse policy.
On July 11, Gibson was found to have violated Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 19 (violation of the NASCAR substance abuse policy) of the 2010 NASCAR Rule Book.
Team owner, Randy Moss, issued a statement “Randy Moss Motorsports is a firm supporter of NASCAR’s substance abuse policy and we recognize and support their effort,” said Chip Wile, Vice President of Randy Moss Motorsports.
“Our team has a zero-tolerance policy for substance abuse. As an organization we support and agree with NASCAR’s decision. We appreciate NASCAR’s diligence in keeping the garage area a safe environment where we can compete at the highest level week in and week out.”
