Jeff Gordon (Chevy No 24) ran the fastest qualifying time at the Texas Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon for Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Dickies 500. Martin Truex Jr. (Chevy No 1) ran the second best time followed by Clint Bowyer (Chevy No 07).
Series point leader Jimmie Johnson (Chevy No 48) will start 7th. Young Joey Logano (Camry no 02) was accepted as the 43rd and last starting driver while Bryan Clauson (Dodge No 40), Tony Raines (Chevrolet No 70), Chad McCumbee (Dodge No 45), newcomer Max Papis (Camry No 13) and Johnny Sauter (Dodge No 08) did not qualify.
