Darrell Wallace Jr. earned his second career pole by setting a record time at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Thursday in NASCAR K&N Pro Series East qualifying for the New Hampshire 125.
The 17-year-old driver posted a lap of 29.849 seconds (127.602 mph) around the 1.058-mile oval, beating the mark set last September by Brett Moffitt of 29.863 (127.542).
Eddie MacDonald qualified second at 29.905 (127.363) while Moffitt was third quickest at 29.953 (127.159).
Series’ leader Max Gresham, who won at New Hampshire in July, qualified fourth just in front of Sergio Peña.
Canadian Andrew Ranger’s run at Loudon did not go as planned, having finished an earlier practice 21st before setting a qualifying time that put him back in 28th on the starting grid.
The New Hampshire 125 is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m. ET.
