It all started by a quiet NASCAR Nationwide race at the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway on Saturday evening. Kyle Busch (Camry No 18) was obviously the man to beat as he picked up the lead almost from the start.
He didn't try too hard to stay up front, building up a lead was almost impossible to beat. But, at the end of the 300-mile event (the Meijer 300 presented by Ritz), things got wild as many young drivers started to show their strength.
A bad crash involving Mike Bliss (Chevy No 1) on lap 182 of 200 ordered a red flag situation. Busch was as good as ever at the restart by he did not count on his teammate, young Joey Logano (Camry No 20) who successfully made a pass at him to grab the lead and keep it until the checkered flag.
Busch had to settle for second place while Brad Keselowski (Chevy No 88) finished third. Brendan Gaughan (Chevy No 62) made it to fourth place even if he had his share of problems during the race and the surprising rookie Justin Allgaier (Dodge No 12) came in fifth.
Nonetheless, Busch still leads the championship with 137 points over Carl Edwards (Ford No 60) who finished 20th, three laps down after experiencing incredible road handling problems and being penalized three times for speed on pit lane.
The Nationwide series will be back next Saturday evening at the Milwaukee Mile raceway.
