New Models Make 2006 a Banner Year for Trucks, SUVs and Crossovers

partially or fully painted as part of the M Aerodynamic package for the former, but a full mid-cycle upgrade for the X3 will have to wait another year. A new X5 is also expected in the near future, along with a larger 7-occupant version possibly dubbed X7.

Buick, which stunned Detroit auto show goers in 2003 with its sensational Centieme crossover, will have to wait until an all-new chassis architecture is finished development to bring something similar to market. Therefore the brand continues with its truck-like Rainier and minivan-based Rendezvous models.

has won many fans with its agile SRX and second-generation Escalade, and with a third-generation Escalade having been spotted by spy photographers, the brand's prospects continue to look rosy. The new Escalade will be available next year.

Infiniti hasn't had anything new since its full-size QX56, and isn't expected to launch an update to the FX anytime soon.
