2011 has gotten off to a very rocky start for Toyota, who was just forced to recall 1.7 million vehicles around the world nearly one year later to the day of a similar episode that had seriously undermined the automaker’s credibility in the eyes of the public.

In Canada 11,700 Lexus vehicles are affected: the 2006 to 2007 GS 300/350, 2006 to early 2009 IS 250 and the 2006 to early 2008 IS 350. An improperly secured fuel pressure sensor connected to certain engine fuel delivery pipes could become loose over time.

This may result in gas leaking around a seal located between the sensor and the fuel delivery pipe.

Owners of affected vehicles will receive a letter in February advising them of the steps that need to be taken. Should the issue or a resulting leak be detected, dealers will repair the vehicle free of charge.

Toyota and Scion brand vehicles are not concerned by this recall, and only the Lexus models mentioned above are likely to present the defect.
