Last week, BMW promised a new four-cylinder vehicle for the North American market. Right on the eve of the New York Auto Show (April 22-May 1, 2011), the German automaker ended the suspense by announcing that the Z4 roadster will receive the same 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo engine as the X1 xDrive28i.
Rated at 240 horsepower, the new Z4 sDrive28i will produce more torque than the naturally-aspirated six-cylinder engine currently in the lineup. Fuel economy and emission control will also be improved.
The car's official specs and performance numbers are expected to be finalized mid-year.
BMW will also use the New York stage to display its ActiveE electric vehicle, new ConnectedDrive interface and features as well as the redesigned 2012 6-Series Coupe.
