NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) has shattered the dream of many North Americans who had fallen in love with the Pagani Huyara and that wanted to acquire this four-wheeled tornado.

The influential U.S. federal agency has refused to give its approval to the Italian manufacturer, so it can get around the legislation on advanced air bags currently making the vehicle illegal.

The automaker previously had decided to follow all necessary steps to obtain support from NHTSA, mimicking other companies such as Tesla and Lamborghini, who all got approvals to market their product in the U.S.

In its plea, Pagani mentioned not having the financial resources to comply with this security requirement, in place since 2000. Unfortunately, this argument did not work at all.

At this time, two options are left on the table for Pagani. In the more optimistic first, the engineers would go back to work to conform Huyara at a cost estimated at 5.7 million. In the second, the supercar would simply never reach the United States.

Let us remind you that the Zonda, Pagani's former jewel, has never been legally sold to North Americans.

The good news is there is still a glimmer of hope on the horizon!
