Quest appealed mostly on design and style
History/Description: With the Honda Odyssey, Dodge Caravan and Toyota Sienna square in its sights, the last-generation Nissan Quest brought Nissan’s knack for unique styling and design into the minivan segment.

For the 2004 model year, the Quest hit the scene with a 3.5L V6 engine, which packed 240 horsepower and was teamed to a 4 or 5-speed automatic that drove the front wheels. The Quest also featured dual sliding doors and generous cargo capacities.

Look for tire pressure monitoring, alloy wheels, power heated leather seats, a power tailgate, sunroof, heated mirrors, Bose audio with CD changer, a self-dimming rearview mirror, power accessories, remote access, power-adjustable pedals and plenty more.

Quest trim levels started with the “S”, and climbed to “SL” and “SE” for basic, mid-range and loaded models, respectively.

What Owners Like:
Typically, Quest’s styling, unique design, sky-view roof system and upscale interior looks are highly rated by owners. Spaciousness, handling and overall comfort are also mentioned.

What Owners Dislike:
Owner complaints typically deal with some flimsy interior trim pieces, poorly thought-out cupholder layout, limited third-row seat space and poorer-than-expected gas mileage in the city. Note that the Nissan Quest is a large, heavy and powerful family hauler – it won’t turn in mileage like a compact car. Some owners have also complained of uncomfortable seats.

Common Issues With The Used Nissan Quest: Though Quest looks free of common major issues relating to its drivetrain, there are some checks of the vehicle that should be considered mandatory. First up, listen to the engine during idle, after confirming that its oil level and condition are satisfactory. Loud rattling sounds at idle or lower revs may be indicative of a somewhat rare but relevant timing-chain problem that’s expensive to fix. This seemed to affect 2004 models, mostly.
