The end result is a flaming, mangled mess of glass and metal with a price tag ringing up to reward drivers for causing as much damage as possible. It sounds as twisted as your virtual car after you're finished, but it's a game that will have players and spectators alike out of their seats shouting at the resulting crashes.

Burnout 3: Takedown

There are racing modes too, allowing competition against opponents around a circuit, once again with the intention of swapping paint. Power-ups and stunts add nitrous to the experience, so drivers can summon massive bursts of speed. Through use of the game's striking graphics, the sensation of going really, really fast is done better than I've ever seen.

You can't shift gears or customize cars, but Burnout 3: Takedown is pure entertainment for car-guys at its finest.

What's Hot: total mayhem, great graphics, good sounds, lots of fun, purely entertaining

What's Not: doesn't use "real" cars, no customizing, no manual shifting, total arcade-game physics
