What did change was a slightly longer front end, more ultra-strong boron steel to help Fiesta meet side-impact safety targets, and the adoption of a dual-stage first row airbag (to meet the U.S. safety requirement for unbelted passengers). There is also a class-exclusive driver’s knee bag, as well as side bags, and side-curtain bags (seven in total).
Also standard are AdvanceTrac with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), seat-belt pretensioners, and Safety Canopy with rollover sensors.

Ford plans to offer more optional and standard equipment, and more options for customization, than has previously been attempted for this class of car in North American markets, to further the notion that small doesn’t necessarily equate to cheap.
Here are some broad strokes on the model, trim lines, and equipment levels…
Base car is S, in 4-door sedan only, with 15-inch steel wheels. Note that Canadian S models cannot be ordered with A/C.
Standard seating is cloth, with four-way adjustable driver’s seat, and two-way adjustable passenger seat, with 60/40 split folding rear seats.
Standard stereo has four-speakers and audio input jack.
Also standard are capless fuel filler, solar-tinted glass, first row carpeted floor mats, floor consolette, tilt and telescopic steering.
SE is the next trim line, in both sedan and 5-door hatch. These models throw on Remote Keyless Entry System, CD and MP3 capabilities for the audio system, auto locking doors, a message centre in the instrument cluster, additional interior lighting, choice of three unique cloth surfaces, visor mirrors, power-windows with driver’s one-touch up/down, and metallic painted interior accent trim.
SE Sedan has 8-spoke 15-inch alloys, while SE hatch has 6-spoke 16-inch alloys. Fiesta SE also available in premium Red Candy tinted clear coat paint.
The top-shelf sedan is the SEL and the top-shelf hatch is the SES.
SES and SEL add the 80-watt audio system, and additional 12-volt outlet on the floor console for rear passengers, unique floor console, carpeted rear floor mats, LED driving lamps with chrome bezels, mirror mounted side marker lamps, heated exterior side-view mirror, speed control, and P195/50R16 tires mounted on 16-inch aluminum wheels with premium paint.
SES and SEL series offer an Upgrade Package, including Intelligent Access with Push Button Start, heated seat cushions, a perimeter alarm and chrome beltline and deck lid moldings. This series also offers leather-trimmed seats, and another premium paint — Yellow Blaze metallic tri-coat.
SE, SEL and SES can be optioned with ambient interior lighting (your choice of seven colours), and Sirrus satellite radio.
Also on the option list is the latest version of SYNC.
Ford SYNC related features in SES and SEL variants are steering wheel mounted audio controls, complemented by a leather-wrapped steering wheel and electochromatic auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Other significant options include the four-inch multi-function screen, to fully complete the cell-phone look inspired center stack, Ford Racing 17-inch European-styled alloy wheels, a power operated moon roof, and the fore-mentioned “regular” leather seats and the more upscale leather seats with sporty “contrasting piping.”
In Ford's Custom Accessories line, you can find lots of “tattoos” for Fiesta. Other tattoo options can be sourced from Ford Custom Graphics by Original Wraps, which allows customers to chose size and design choices from a portfolio of images.
