Programming the Subconscious to React When in Car Crisis

When I was learning how to drive, I never went to driving school. I wanted to, but I never had the chance. My training consisted of me struggling with a five speed manual transmission car, trying to get pointers out of my snoozing instructor, aka my brother. But that rarely happened. The most I could get out of him was, "next time, add more gas!" Oh well. Since my early driving days, I have always yearned for more instruction on how I can improve my driving skills, and recently, that opportunity came knocking.

What better way to spend a day than at one of BMW's Advanced Driver Training Program session? (Photo: Alexandra Straub, Canadian Auto Press)

I was recently invited to attend one of BMW's Advanced Driver Training Program sessions, this one held at the Tradex Convention Centre in Abbotsford, B.C. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my day, and there I was developing my performance driving skills in a new BMW.

The BMW Driver Program originated in Germany in 1976, and since then has spread to 24 countries worldwide. Driver Training then ventured into Canada in April of 2001, and over 5,000 people nationwide have completed the course.

The Program consists of 3 Levels; Level 1 BMW Advanced Driver Training, Level 2 BMW Perfection Driver Training, and Level 3 BMW Fascination Driver Training. The neat thing about the Program is that if you have completed Level 1, you can take Level 2 or Level 3 in any of the 24 countries the course is offered in. Hey, that sounds pretty good to me. But there are a lot of other positive things about this course, starting with the fact that you don't even need to own a BMW to participate.
