Performance car builder Lotus has announced some changes to their lineup of sportscars for the 2008 model year to give buyers an even more exciting and exhilarating experience behind the wheel. The resulting machinery comprises the most powerful lineup of Lotus cars ever.

Part of the plan includes some performance optimized Elise and Exige models to reinforce the brand's 'race car for the roads' presence. The most powerful Elise to date is called the Supercharged Elise SC. Its taut handling and exceptionally light chassis will combine with a new 220 horsepower engine for a new level of performance not before seen in the two-seater.

Additionally, a 240 horsepower Performance Pack option is available in the Exige model.

2008 upgrades at Lotus aren't just for the sake of 'go' though. Touring packages are available depending on the owner's intended use for the car, and driver and passenger airbags are now standard across the model range.

A new instrument cluster has been installed too. It's both more stylish and functional and comes with an LCD display to help keep drivers up to date on vital running information and service reminders.

Mike Kimberley, Lotus's CEO, couldn't be more excited for the new changes. According to Kimberley, listening to customers and owners input have been fundamental in plotting the company's future direction thus far.
