The ALMS is most certainly the only racing series in the world that allows all ticket holders to access the starting grid. As you can easily imagine, a sea of fans surrounds the cars.
Admission is pretty reasonable, too, which explains the impressive crowd. A two-day ticket costs $80, while a four-day ticket is priced at $90. A Chalet Hospitality Package including meals, beverages, gifts and parking is available for $350.
The show was over when the No. 1 Audi hit the wall after that miscalculated passing attempt during the 7th hour of the race. From then on, the No. 8 Peugeot enjoyed a three-lap lead on the old 908 HDI FAP from ORECA. It was all set and done, and Peugeot safely cruised to the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup's Manufacturers Championship.
So Audi won the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Peugeot earned the championship title. Kind of perfect balance, wouldn't you say?
