Day 12 - 6:00 PM
It's official when your name's on the door
The Flight into Anchorage was nothing short of breathtaking. The clouds parted as we flew over the craggiest snow-laden peaks I've ever seen. Soon after touchdown, I was at our hotel in downtown Anchorage, meeting those who will become my family over the next six days of exploration and adventure.

This afternoon was all about maintenance and having the vehicles cleaned and checked-over at the local VW-Audi-Porsche dealer. Perhaps the most important task of the day was the application of my name onto the front doors of the Cayenne that will serve my co-pilot and I throughout the coming week. You know it's true when your name is glued to the door!

Now that the Porsches are ready for tomorrow's early departure, there's time to explore Anchorage and work-up an appetite for tonight's group dinner. We plan to depart at 8 am. There's snow in the forecast as we head to our next destination, Valdez in Alaska, but thanks to the sophisticated 4WD systems underpinning the Cayennes, we don't anticipate any problems.
