Here’s another bit of Porsche news that will have car buffs jumping for joy: They have confirmed that the diesel version of the popular Cayenne, as well as the new Cajun, will be coming to North America for 2013.
The Cayenne Diesel will be the first compression-ignition car offered by the German automaker in the US.
The Porsche Cayenne’s North American tech specs are still unknown, but we can expect figures similar to those of the other diesel SUVs from the Volkswagen family currently available elsewhere in the world. They’re powered by a 3.0L V6 which produces 245 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. These are the Volkswagen Touareg TDI's numbers.
The arrival of this latest variant will likely raise the Cayenne’s popularity, which already accounts for 50% of Porsche’s new vehicle sales in Canada, to new heights.
We don’t know much about the Cajun compact SUV, however. It will reportedly share a platform with the Audi Q5 and launch a direct assault on the Mercedes-Benz GLK and Range Rover Evoque.
