Informers supposedly told AutoWeek that Porsche is working on a longer wheelbase Panamera for 2012 in response to the requests of its North American and Chinese clients.
The change would allow for wider rear doors with a larger opening angle, improving accessibility to the rear seats, something Porsche is commonly criticized for. In concrete terms, the current 115-inch wheelbase would be pushed up to about 120 inches.
The introduction of this elongated model would be in accordance with the remodelling of the regular wheelbase Panamera. Comparatively speaking, the longer Mercedes-Benz S-Class has a 124-inch wheelbase.
