Porsche definitely loves unique cars. Hot on the heels of the 911 Black Edition, the German automaker basically gave the same treatment to the Boxster S.
Producing a total of 320 horsepower (ten more than the regular model), the Boxster S Black Edition's body panels, hood, roll bars, intake grilles, dual exhaust tips, decklid badge and new 19-inch wheels are all painted in black.
The dark theme of the exterior is continued inside, where aluminum and stainless steel accents provide contrast. Trim pieces of the dashboard and gear shift lever or PDK selector are painted in black. The dials on the instrument cluster are black (instead of the traditional white), as are the partial leather seats with the Porsche logo embossed in the headrests. A bespoke badge on the glove compartment lid and "Black Edition" model lettering on the door sill plates further identify each Black Edition.
Comfort and convenience are enhanced with bixenon headlights, auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors, rain sensors and automatic climate control.
When mated to the 7-speed, dual-clutch PDK transmission, the 3.4-litre, six-cylinder engine with direct injection sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.1 seconds and achieves a top speed of 274 km/h (170 mph).
Production will be limited to just 987 units worldwide, each one retailing for about $74,400.
