Porsche is decidedly following through on its ideas. After presenting the Boxster S and 911 Carrera Black Editions, the German manufacturer is at it again, this time with the Cayman S. Only 500 units of the more potent, black as pitch and highly exclusive car will be produced.
The 3.4-litre, six-cylinder mill punches out 10 extra ponies compared to the standard model, for a total of 330 hp. Torque remains the same at 272 ft-lb, but the extra grunt boosts acceleration times by 0.1 second for the 0-to-100 dash (5,1 seconds) and top speeds by 2 km/h (279 km/h).
Lighter and one inch larger, the sinister 19-inch wheels borrowed from the Boxster Spyder not only set the machine apart, but improve handling as well.
The car is obviously draped in black, inside and out, and the inscription “Black Edition” adorns the rocker panels and glove box.
With optional and free comfort, infotainment and design packages, the Cayman S Black Edition will retail for 77,000 CAD – a real bargain, considering.
