As far as a performance vehicle manufacturer goes, Porsche takes fuel consumption and the environment very seriously. Promoting this fact, the German automaker will show off an atmospherically-friendly and fuel-efficient range of automobiles at this year's Geneva motor show.

A prototype version of the upcoming Cayenne Hybrid SUV will be on display alongside the current Cayenne model lineup. The hybrid model stands to offer customers significant fuel savings, as hybrid drive systems save even more fuel in a larger vehicle than a smaller one. Hybrid SUV's are increasing in popularity- though the current gasoline-only Cayenne lineup utilizes direct-injection engines to save up to 15% at the pumps.

Also taking the Porsche stand will be the legendary Porsche RS Spyder. Porsche says this is the most successful race car in the American Le Mans Series, having achieved its 8 overall victories while burning eco-friendly E-10 ethanol fuel its engine. Ethanol is derived from corn, and is thus a renewable resource that has potential to lessen dependence on fossil fuels.

The Boxer RS 60 Spyder, 911 Turbo Cabriolet and 911 GT2 will also be on hand to celebrate decades of experience in building light, fuel-efficient vehicles.

The Geneva Motor Show opens March 6th.
