A bit of muscle...
In terms of sporty cars, the 2009 MIAS had interesting surprises in store. The Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart made its North American debut with great fanfare. Helping promote the car were athletes Mélanie Turgeon (skiing) and Benoit Huot (swimming). This small yet assertively-styled wagon is a 5-door variant of the popular Lancer. Powertrains and specifications are similar.

Props to GM, which turned a big spotlight on arguably one of the most anticipated machines of the year: the 2010 Camaro.

Jaguar made sure to attract performance fans with the introduction of the magnificent XK and XKR.

Finally, Nissan chose Montreal for the Canadian premiere of the new 370Z sports coupe.

... and style
A great design goes a long way, as evidenced by new models like the MINI Cabriolet, Infiniti G37 Convertible, Nissan Cube, Mercedes-Benz GLK, Mazda3 and Toyota Venza. And let's not forget the all-new BMW 7-Series, which was penned by a Canadian designer.

The MIAS lives up to expectations despite the difficult times. "I think we're blessed. Every automaker is on hand and everyone wanted to be here. The show floor is maxed out and visitor turnout should be great," said general manager Denis Dessurreault.
