RainX has been helping Canadian drivers achieve maximum visibility for years
“If a windshield washer fluid freezes on the windshield, the temperature outside is colder than what the fluid is designed to perform in. In order to prevent this potential safety hazard, always check what temperature the product performance is rated for”.

That fluorescent yellow color? It’s not a special ingredient or chemical, but rather a dye used to set it apart from other products, Agnew adds.

Those after the ultimate in wintertime visibility may wish to combine the RainX De-Icer fluid with a set of ‘frameless’ wiper blades, available from RainX and several other manufactures. Many new vehicles are switching to this style of wiper blade, as they don’t freeze up, and they wipe the whole windshield evenly and without lifting away at higher speeds.

Agnew comments “Our Rain-X ‘Latitude’ wiper blades offer a high performance wipe, as the contoured design applies an even pressure along the entire length of the blade. The specially-blended graphite-coated rubber delivers a smooth and chatter-free wipe, and with no exposed metal components, ice and snow build-up on the blade is eliminated”.

For maximum winter driving visibility and confidence, here are a few additional tips.

In addition to wiper blades and washer fluid, here are a few more tips to help ensure safe winter driving through enhanced visibility.

-Ensure all your bulbs are working with a quick check before every road trip. This includes parking lights, brake lights, trailer lights (if applicable) and signal lights.

-A poorly-aimed headlight reduces visibility and may even cause dangerous glare in a snowstorm. Ensure your headlamps are aimed properly. Your garage or owner’s manual can help here.

-Most humans can’t see through a sheet of ice on their windshield. Clean yours off before driving.

-Salt and dirt can stick to your headlights, reducing their effectiveness. They should be cleaned often, at refueling and before road trips. If you need to clean your lights quickly on the go, just pull over and toss a rag over one of your washer squirters. Head back into the vehicle, hit the spray for a moment, and then use the moistened rag to wipe your headlights.

-Remember that most winter fluid will smear if used in the summer, and that most summer fluid will freeze in winter. For that reason, ensure you’re using the proper type of fluid for the season.
