Acura is stepping up its presence in the Canadian performance sedan market in a big way. For 2007, the TL line will receive upgrades both inside and out, including an improved navigation system, satellite radio and the introduction of a potent Type-S designated model.

The standard TL model is motivated by a 3.2 litre V6 engine with 258 horsepower at 6200 revs. A revised 5-speed sequential sport-shift automatic gearbox is the only available transmission on the standard model.

Exterior upgrades for 2007 include a larger grille, new bumper, fog lamps and wheels, while inside a new set of gauges, a new steering wheel and special blue or red ambient lighting adds extra class.

Finely tuned front double-wishbone suspensions and rear multi-link setups allow for enhanced driver control without a sacrifice in ride quality, Acura says.

For the ultimate in TL performance, drivers can step up to the new TL Type-S. Power from a new 3.5 litre engine peaks at 286 ponies, delivered to the front wheels by a 5-speed paddle-shifter equipped autobox, or a close-ratio six-speed manual. Upgraded suspension ensures confident handling, and Brembo brakes ensure confident stopping power. An upgraded interior treatment adds Bluetooth connectivity, a premium stereo system and sport seats to the model as well.

TL pricing starts at $42,500, with the TL with Navigation priced at $45,600. The Type-S model starts at $46,300 with six-speed or $47,600 with automatic gearbox.
