Small premium should allow owners to recoup costs
Alex: How about the cabin itself? Were you comfortable?

Sue: Ergonomically it was a good fit for me. I was totally comfortable with all of the controls and pedals. This would be a good vehicle for my use.

Alex:
Did you like the Vue's style? A lot of people thought the Vue was pretty dull when it first came out.

Sue: I thought the Green Line looked pretty good, but I don't remember the old Vue. Saturn did a pretty serious interior upgrade of Vue for 2006 and added more standard equipment -- like the OnStar safety and security system. I would say that anyone who didn't like the original interior should look at Vue again if they're looking for a small SUV.

Alex: Did anything else catch your eye?

Sue: Yeah. I was very surprised to see no spare tire in the vehicle, neither under it nor in the back cargo area. They put the battery for the electric motor in the space where the spare tire normally lives, and that means there's no spare. There's a tire inflation kit, though, and OnStar so the mechanic can find you anywhere and fix the flat for you. So you probably are OK with no spare.

Alex: Also, flat tires aren't as common as they used to be, and the one time we've had a flat in the last 15 years we called the free roadside assistance to come and replace it.

Sue: Overall it seems like a smart buy. It will give you a lot better fuel economy anywhere, but particularly if you're in the city. You won't have to fill it up as often, and it should fit women pretty well.

Alex: On top of that, Saturn is still the best dealer experience in the industry. But most importantly, the Saturn Vue Green Line should cost under $30,000, and that gives you a chance to earn back the premium for the hybrid.

Sue: Works for me.
