A North American first
Quebec City's electric microbus project is valued at $12.2 million. The partners have committed the following amounts:
  • $4.2 million over two years from the Quebec government;
  • $2 million from the federal government;
  • $5.6 million from Quebec City;
  • $325,000 from the Réseau de transport de la capitale.

Mayor Labaume is proud of his city
Quebec City is the only place in North America to offer a fully-electric bus program, which is a nice way for visitors to tour the legendary streets as part of the city's 400th anniversary festivities.

For the mayor and his community, "this initiative is a brilliant example of our commitment to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution. Old Quebec is a World Heritage jewel which will soon welcome over 6 million visitors to celebrate its 400th anniversary. This $12 million investment by the City and its partners is another step forward in our efforts to protect the environment."

As for Mrs. Boulet, she joyfully stated: "I'm extremely pleased with the launch of the electric microbus service in Quebec City. It's actually the first project to be financed by the new Programme d'aide à l'amélioration de l'efficacité énergétique dans le transport routier des personnes, which is part of Quebec's Public Transit Policy. It allows the provincial government to support municipalities and organizations that are committed to use a more environmentally-friendly vehicle fleet. It also highlights our efforts to encourage sustainable development."

Ultimately, the key aspect of this innovative project is not only the partnership between the various governments but also the fact that citizens will finally have a clean alternative to the regular public transit system.
