After filing a complaint and dismissing three executives on the grounds of spying, Renault was rejected by French prosecutors today. And yet the saga will continue.

Paris Chief Prosecutor Jean-Claude Marin said that the probe will now shift to looking into another employee who reportedly made false accusations.

Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn and COO Patrick Pelata released a statement to present their sincere apologies and regrets. They also promised compensation to the three executives, who will have their honour in the public eye restored. A meeting between the two parties will take place as soon as possible.

As Chairman of Renault's Board of Directors, Ghosn has convened an extraordinary board meeting for today to determine the appropriate disciplinary action. The automaker is already pressing charges and has filed for a civil action against security chief Dominique Gevrey, whose internal investigation led to the wrongful firings.
